And was playing sport at a high level, both water polo, AFL, and got injuries and all that sort of stuff.

And I remember sitting at a porto's in Kempsey, actually flipping burgers.

And this old fella came in, spoke to me about bike riding and that he reckons I should have gone to Italy and done a few trips and this and that and the other.

And Fast forward a little bit, I was then on a plane over to Italy to race cycling with no understanding about it, no concept of the real depth of the sport or anything like that.

Was there anyone that we were like, oh, geez, this person's taking it real seriously?

No, like John Day was a frontrunner pretty much all years besides when he raced Breco at Dungog and I think the first day of Kempsey.

But even that, like John had come straight back into the pits.

A lot of the time we were pitted near him.

You know, of course, that was Bobby Heenan's words or whatever.

But the point is, Brooklyn Brawler, who also was Kempsey, In the mask for Kamala, Kamala's handler.

Right.

RIP to Kamala, the Ugandan giant.

You know, there's some areas that have just never won it.

The Northern Rivers, Bundjalung area, even down in the Dungaree country, it's been a long time since Kempsey's produced another winner.

All the players are there.

You've got to be something you've got to be around, you've got to be taught

Because they would just go, I just want to be in that 25 anywhere.

It doesn't happen as much these days.

And this is where a lot of towns crumble and fall apart is the kids want to be, oh, I'd rather be the starting halfback in this weaker side than be the backup guy on a – Four Kempsey teams? We've been there.

We've been there.

And then the, the company that basically has that property in a trust changed hands and they wanted to start their health retreat.

Meanwhile, we had bought a property up at the back of Kempsey, which is where we are now.

So we have been up there for about 15 years now.
