Keller Independent School District

Oh my God.

And in 2024, Keller ISD canceled the performance of The Laramie Project about the murder of Matthew Shepard.

Um-

Wait, sorry.

That 2025 law gave school boards final say over library materials and allows community members to challenge books.

But several parents, like Keller ISD mom Lainie Haws, told committee members that SB13 takes control away from parents.

I want to know what makes all of you politicians and all of the activists here today think you know what's best and what's appropriate for my children or the children in my community.

Haws says the law has led to the removal of literature and functions like a book ban.

I feel like they voted continuously for the past year as well.

They had their, uh, supposed split of Keller ISD, which, uh, they, they went to the polls for that to make sure we elect people that are not gonna split the school district apart.

Then they had Taylor Remet's, uh, race.

[laughs] And, uh, and then their special election runoff as well.
