What motivated you to write this book, Kingdom Apprenticeship? And then secondly, what's the core invitation that you see in Willard's work that the church desperately needs to recover today?

Great questions.

I would say the first one is It was a pebble in my shoe.

that eventually led to this book.

And it goes back to my days as a pastor.

So pastoring in Miami, Florida, which is just a little bit different from Wichita, Kansas.

Pastoring there, I found myself continually drawing from two different streams of the faith.

Keith, when you talk about kind of a distinction between the one discipler and then this idea of mentoring, can you fit into that framework for me what Paul says, imitate me as I imitate Christ? I had that come to mind earlier when you were sharing a little bit, and I just want to ask you to maybe give a little bit of a midrash on that from him as it fits into kind of your framework for how you talk about and approach this in your life of apprenticeship and then being discipled by Christ and mentoring others?

those years? How did it kind of accidentally bump into missiology and just being like formation is meant to lead to mission? Or just tell us the journey of how you used to define it and now how it's maybe a little more robust.

So did I as to was I just studying formation and then I bumped into the missional piece? Actually, it's it's quite a different story than that.

It it was that the two streams of faith that have most shaped, you know, my own my own faith is a spiritual formation movement and the missional church movement.

And what's really interesting is that they both kind of blossomed at the same time.
