Um, yeah, my name is Keith Giles.

As Kate said, I am, I'm, uh, very fortunate to have been on this podcast a couple times, uh, in the past.

Um, I'm sort of the co-founder of Pink Beam Press, which we'll talk a little bit more specifics in a minute, but, um, I also published a, uh, my very first science fiction novella, um, with Pink Beam a- as part of this little thing that we did.

Um, my novella is called "Hard Video," and, uh, it's like kind of about what happens when we get addicted to our devices and, um, and what happens when someone decides to turn off the device and look around, so.

What's the format? What does it include?

Well, before they arrived, we had a few photographs of the collection in August Hettig's son's home.

So it was difficult to tell exactly the extent of the collection and what was in there.

There was a brief... inventory that had been put together by a German researcher, I think in the 1990s, which gave us some clues as to the content.

We knew that it was mainly going to be negatives and that there was a small number of glass plate negatives included within the collection.

We had an estimate of the extent of the collection, which is around about 10,000 negatives.

And in my innocence, I expected it to be quite a small box that would arrive on our doorstep.

I know we've had the blessing, we've had some connection with the local family here, but the community knowledge and helping for the description and interpretation of the photos in terms of accuracy.

Can you give me an example of, of how that's coming about? You said it, they've shown that it's true.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Well, I mean, um, so like Jenny mentioned, you know, like, I think if you go all the way back, I mention this in the, in the forward to the book, um, you know, if you go, uh, the...

Sort of what kicked this whole thing off was this double slit experiment.

Um, and initially they were just trying to understand the nature of light.

A, a lot of people have done this, but what, what first inspired you to do such a direct comparison in the way that you've done it?

Well, um, basically, I woke up on a Monday morning, was sitting at my, my kitchen table, having my cup of coffee, scrolling through my Instagram feed, and I see this ad for a book called, um, "Jesus and Trump: The Parallel Sayings." And I'm thinking, first I thought this is a joke, and then I clicked on it and went to Amazon and realized, oh no, it was real.

Um, so there was a, uh, there's a book called "Jesus and Trump: The Parallel Sayings," and it really just-

... something that's not new at all in that sense, right?

No.

No, it's not new at all, and you're right.

You can, you can trace it, again, with Constantine.

But in America, you know, you can trace it with, um, Ronald Reagan and Jerry Falwell, you know.

Oh, Jon, thank you so much, uh, for having us on to talk about it.

Yeah, I'm very proud of this book, and, um, very, um...

I mean, it was one of these things where, you know, we were...

I think we started talking about it, um, I'm speaking now as a, as a co-owner of a publishing company.

Um, I think we started thinking about this book right after the election, um, and moving into...

Probably it was around January actually, uh, when, at the inauguration.

... raised religious, but now consider themselves spiritual 'cause they're so turned off by all this hypocrisy and nonsense.

Yeah.

The other one starts, uh, at 16% and then goes the other direction, um, going all the way up to 28%.

And it's so fascinating to me 'cause actually, the white Evangelical Protestants are the ones that have made the biggest drop, right? Um, they started at 23% in 2006, um, and they've ended at 13%.

Um, the religiously unaffiliated started at 16 and have, uh, gone up to 28.

So they've actually gone higher than the white Evangelicals were when this all started.

And the white Evangelicals have gone lower than-

Uh, boy do they hate the gays.

So, it was a textbook...

Yeah.

That's right.

No, exactly.

Um, and so, uh, you know, there's...

The, the other sayings, like, probably one of the most pivotal sayings in Thomas is saying 22.

Um, in fact, I think it's probably the most pivotal saying because, um, when I was going through the sayings, whenever I would come across something that I was sort of like, "I, I'm not sure exactly what that means," um, I could, if I went back and reminded myself what he said in 22, it sort of like shed some light on it, like, "Okay, n- now it makes sense." Um, and so what he says in saying 22, um, he says to his disciples, "When..." Wait, he's telling them how to, how to see the kingdom, right? Uh, it starts off with them...

He points to, uh, infants being suckled, and he says, you know, "These infants, uh, are like those who enter the kingdom." Of course, the disciples are, "Oh, should we become infants to enter the kingdom?" And he says to them, "No." Um, he says, "When you make the two, one, when you make the inside as the outside and the outside as the inside, and the upper as the lower, when you make the male and the female into a single one-...

Yes.

Yeah.

These people are more American than any of us could ever hope to be. They were here generations before us. You can't get more American than a Native American. Uh, and they're being erased from our history. It's sad. It's embarrassing. Um, and I hope it is enough, um, that someone's gonna... the people are gonna stand up and- and, I don't know, protest, speak out, stand up. Uh, I just wanna see someone find their backbone and their balls-

Uh, oh, I would just say, um, to the question, to what he was saying, like, you, you're abso- absolutely right. I mean, I think we've talked about this several times as well. Um, I, I would say historically it was, it was Constantine, uh, who kind of, uh, hijacked the Christian faith, um, created a version of Jesus that didn't really exist. It was his own version of, of Jesus. And the church and the state being wedded together has been, uh, you know, the Cr- that's, that's why we got the Crusades. That's why we got, um-
