So I'd like to now move on to introduce our speaker.

So we're fortunate today to have Dr Michael Foran, Associate Professor of Law from the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Keeble College.

Today's talk, as I briefly said at the beginning, is examining the implications for higher education institutions following the Supreme Court's 2025 decision in For Women Scotland for the Scottish Ministers.

And Michael is an expert in equality and in anti-discrimination law, whose work has been cited by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.

Dr Atif Ansar is a senior teaching fellow at Said Business School in Oxford.

He's a fellow of Keeble College, where he founded the Oxford Programme on the Sustainable Future of Capital Intensive Industries.

He has advised the World Bank and governments across Asia and Africa, and he's the executive chairman of Foresight Works.

I also put a question to him from an architect friend of mine about what happens to your fee when AI halves your hours? His answer surprised even me.

And that they can utter, not less sincerely than myself, the two prayers, Hallowed be thy name, and From hardness of heart and contempt of thy word and commandment, good Lord, deliver us.

To which I would desire to add, for their sake and for my own, Keble's beautiful petition, Help us this and every day to live more nearly as we pray.

It is, in fact, for its consequences, for the grave dangers both to speaker and to hearer which it involves, rather than for what it is in itself, that I mourn over this clerical habit of profanity in social talk.

To the believing hearer, it brings the danger of loss of reverence for holy things by the mere act of listening to and enjoying such jests, and also the temptation to retail them for the amusement of others.

The nineteenth-century Oxford Movement gave rise to Anglo-Catholicism, which revived many Catholic rites within an Anglican framework.

The movement’s key figures—Keble, Newman, Pusey—wrote the famous tracts that stirred controversy.

Today, the monarch remains the Supreme Governor of this church, a largely ceremonial position but one that underscores the historic link between state and faith.

In twenty twenty-six, Charles the Third is still listed in that capacity while he navigates a pluralistic Britain.

To me both the portraits are full of deep interest.

These portraits of Keble, the one in the prime of manhood and the other in old age, were drawn by Richmond.

The earlier and the later both, each brings him back to me as he was.

In the earlier he has some of the merry defiance he could assume in argument.

In the latter I see the sad tenderness of his advanced years.

And to begin with, we head back to 2001 and first meet a then 81-year-old retired clergyman known informally as RVG, the Reverend Ronald Victor Glazebrook, who lived in a property in Dane Road in the St. Leonard's area of the town of Hastings.

Born in October 1919, he attended Keble College in Oxford and gained a BA in 1941, a master's degree in 1948 and a diploma in education five years later.

After being ordained in the 1940s, he served as a chaplain to schools, working in Australia, Zimbabwe and Nigeria during the 1950s, as well as spending time as a headmaster at Karachi Grammar School in Pakistan.

Mr Glazebrook returned to London in the mid-1960s working as first chaplain and then assistant master at the Greycoat Hospital School before in the mid-1970s he joined St Margaret's a residential care home in Bethnal Green in East London where he was warden from 1976 until his retirement in 1983.
