Keating Five

And the investigator became the subject se- subject, and he was actually censured by the Senate, uh, 67 to 22 vote, right? There was the 1991 to '95 Senate Ethics Committee, and this is Senators Alan Cranston and Bob Packwood.

Cranston got [chuckles] received a reprimand in the Keating Five case.

Packwood resigned, and the committee recommended expulsion, so no major, uh, charges there.

Um, 2021, [lip smack] this is the judiciary.

We, once we figured out this fraud scheme, we changed everything about how we supervised and closed institutions.

And that's why the Keating Five, those five US senators came after us because Lincoln Savings was reporting it was the most profitable savings and loan in America.

And we were saying, shut it down, it's a fraud.

You don't see anything like that in the modern era.

said, no, we consider that and rejected it.

And I realized there was no possible way to succeed.

But I did a you know, video filmed in our home in what was then Kansas City, went out to 6 million folks from the Obama folks, because after all, his opponent was one of the Keating Five that I had blown the whistle on and such.

But again, tried to explain the things that the vital policy matters, they could care less.

And now we're looking at, you know, I mean, that was a pretty bad scandal, the SNL.

You know, I mean, even John McCain got dragged up in it, as you'll recall, the Keating Five.

But what's going on now makes that look like child's play.

And I think people really want somebody who's going to take names and kick ass.
