Kearsarge Pass

And I want to talk about a surprise that I had, which is, um, This past week, I flipped back to the Sierra to fill in some miles that I had missed for a wedding.

So that was Kearsarge Pass to Mammoth Lakes.

And during this eight day stretch, I was out of the PCT bubble and I was in the John Muir Trail bubble.

So I was like the only PCT hiker that I saw out there.

Yes.

The section between Tuolumne Meadows to Red's Meadow, where we got back on the trail, and the section between Kearsarge Pass, where the connecting trail to get to Kearsarge Pass is connected with JMT, to Mount Whitney.

Yeah.

And so we did, for the most part, a long distance hike.

I would say, I would probably say we did a section in Yosemite and then we did a long distance hike between Red's Meadow to Kearsarge Pass.

That was a long distance.

Yeah.

But we just did a section of it.

We went in through Kearsarge Pass outside of Independence, California, and hiked up to just over 11,000 feet to get up and over the granite boulder fields into lush meadows.

And we followed streams the entire time, so had plenty of water supply.

Um, we followed a few more passes and came out just past Mount Whitney Portal in a place called Cottonwood Pass.

But, um, all that going on.

And then next morning I go past Kearsarge Pass, where basically everybody I camped with the night before was getting off at, uh, 'cause the worst of the storm was still coming And that started snowing that morning before I went over Glenn Pass.

And I was like, "Oh, this is gonna be fun.

You know, some snow in the High Sierra.
