Kawanishi

Anyway, we're back to bears again.

In Yamagata Prefecture, in a place called Obune, Kawanishi Town, it was local taboo to give anyone a name with kuma or bear in it.

And this is interesting because back in the Edo period, having bear or kuma in your name wasn't especially strange at all.

A woman could simply be named bear, kuma.
