Kauri

This wasn't a public walking track.

Mark describes the surrounding country as steep, slippery, and dangerous, with rocky cliffs and an area affected by kauri dieback restrictions.

Kauri are, um, are the, some of the world's oldest trees.

They're millions of years old.

They're huge.

There were two brothers.

One of them was the great conifer of the far north of Aotearoa, the kauri tree.

Yeah, some of you might have seen a kauri tree before.
