So the thing about postpartum psychosis, right? So we talked about the psychotic symptoms.

It can also occur in the presence of mood symptoms.

Most of the time, it occurs in the presence of mood symptoms.

It's actually really unco- Uh, it happens where you have just the psychotic symptoms and not the mood symptoms, but most of the time you have mood symptoms.

Within that, it can occur in the presence of mania, hypomania, mixed episodes, or depressive episodes.

But I also wonder if maybe there should have been somebody else brought in, and if so, how would that have happened? How would they have had access to someone like you through-- to, to talk to someone who might have a better understanding? Can you help me expand on this thought?

Exactly.

So people have been fighting for that.

A lot of people have been fighting for that for a long time, just like they've been fighting for reproductive psychiatry fellowships, right? Like, all of these things take time, and a lot of, you know, red tape and administrative burden and all that stuff.

But I do think that's really important to keep in mind, 'cause it makes it really hard to study, to track, to intervene, and to know what's working.

The cool thing is that people are doing that.

So why don't we just start out talking a little bit about what is postpartum psychosis?

That's a great question.

So what is postpartum psychosis is actually, I wish there was a s-straight answer, but since there is not definitive diagnostic criteria in the DSM-5, there-- I think l- therein lies the first problem when it comes to identifying and treating postpartum psychosis, right? It's hard to treat a condition if people aren't told exactly what to look for to diagnose it in our medical model.

Um, so sometimes it, it gets missed.

Um, when we think about classic postpartum psychosis, it is psychotic symptoms that develop soon after delivery.

Classically, it's within twenty-four hours to three weeks.

... any, any thoughts on that specifically?
