Road conditions, SLEX exit to C5/Katipunan.

Traveling from Silang, Cavite through the Calamba Laguna Expressway, CALAX, to the South Luzon Expressway, SLEX, exit toward the C5 corridor northward toward Katipunan and up to UP presents a heavily trafficked, tiring, stressful, and structurally demanding route.

Having had extensive driving experience abroad, I find SLEX itself subpar in quality, mostly due to the changes in lane sizes and widths from five lanes to two lanes depending on where you are.

These changes are partly due to limited space and partly through never-ending road repair and maintenance work.

Portions of the C5 stretch, especially near transitional ramps with bumpy sections, intersections, and middle lanes carrying heavy cargo trucks suffer from asphalt degradation, uneven repaving joints, and occasional deep potholes.

Frequent uneven patching often leads to bumpy, corrugated surfaces rather than a smooth grade and tests any vehicle suspension.

In fact, I was watching a video review of a particular car model on YouTube, and the annotator mentioned that this stretch all the way to Katipunan Avenue is the favorite route of potential car buyers road testing brand-new cars to prove their durability and quiet vehicle suspension.
