And I think a lot of us thought, well, how hard can it be until we became moms? And then we had a rude wake

up call.

We had.

I mean, let me tell you, we we sure did.

And certainly my son's diagnosis came when he was just over two years old.

So not only was I not, like my children were not exactly, it wasn't as simple as I thought.

I had a son that was running away in public and refusing to put shoes on and not speaking.

I got a 12 passenger van.

And, uh, we can get into that really quickly in a second, but before that, I just wanted to congratulate you on the publication of Grace Will Be There and ask you what it's like to have this very personal book out in the world.

What is it like to have this personal thing out in the world? It's so strange, to be honest, you know? [laughs] Like, you're a writer too, Kate, so you know sometimes you labor over essays and sentences and getting...

rewriting a scene four to five times.

S- sometimes an essay takes me, oh, six weeks to finish because I've tried to get it just right, and this, this book is really the product of about two and a half, three years of work.
