So how do you start getting a group together? What's your suggestion on that?
19:06
So I would say the first part that I would recommend.
19:08
So if you're able to find, if you want, babies fasting in a hurry, starting out with adults is of course easier.
19:17
And so at the very least, visually matching them would be a good idea because if you have different subspecies, not all the subspecies are able to interbreed well.
19:26
There are many hybrids or I guess interbreeds because they are the same species out there, but you likely won't get as high fertility if they're not matched for subspecies.
19:38
So that would be one way.
19:40
Another way would be to get babies from a reputable breeder.

So going along with the genetic testing, are there visual differences where you could kind of, I mean, it's not 100%, but it sounded like you could weed out ones that were different subspecies by visual assessment.
4:50
Yes.

So looking at the terrapist shape, you know, some of them are more shaped like a burger.
4:55
If you look from the top, some of them are shaped more like eggs.
4:58
The Horsfieldii are very egg-shaped, and they're generally bigger.

When you hear of Russian tortoise that's 12 inches long and has been in the States for X amount of time, probably a Horsfieldii that Kazakhstanica kind of maxed out at about 1,300 grams, they can be up to 2 kilograms.
5:16
Right now, I don't have the list right in front of me, but one of the subspecies is much smaller.
