She's a Native American newcomer, Angelina Lookingglass, when she returns to rural Oklahoma where it's set after many, many years.

When the film kicks off, you know it's about bees because he collects the bees, makes the honey and what have you.

Parents may wish to consider whether it should be viewed by children under 17.

And it does take a hit.

I will say, I thought Angelina Lookingglass, who plays...

His foster daughter, Kateri, I thought she did good.

And the movie kind of shifts.

Um, and now she is back in town as an adult.

Her name is Kateri, played by the amazing Angelina Looking Glass.

Amazing.

And, um, he takes her under his wing and shows her the ropes of beekeeping, of, um, of the whole process of, of how honey is collected and how bees are raised and all of that stuff.

There was the later potluck where Kateri uses, um, a, a food line to hide her intentions.

That informed having an earlier potluck, which is now the more... people are wondering more about that one because of, essentially because it, it is a really strong set piece in the movie.

And so that told me to make one earlier so that there would be kind of a callback.

I knew that those needed to be like a, like a rec center with a stage, with, you know, certain kind of lighting.

I knew that Amziah's kitchen needed to be tight and needed to feel, have wood paneling.

I knew that, um, I knew that the honey plant, we had to build out and diagram what a honey plant looks like in a way so that when Kateri reenters another one and uses that as a weapon, we knew what that was without you ever saying a word.

Mm.

while her husband Greg, played by Ewan McGregor, hides his job loss by delivering pizzas.

Meanwhile, their teenage daughter Audrey, played by Maisie Stella, worries about affording college, and youngest child Brian, played by Christian Convery, is dealing with typical middle school hell.

Strange phenomena begin happening on Oak Street, including prehistoric plant life appearing overnight, unusual solar flares, and sudden atmospheric shifts.

Following a blinding flash of white light during a late-night storm, the entire neighborhood is severed from modern civilization and transported millions of years into the past.

But, as I told a friend of mine, it is not something that I would bring kids to, even if they like dinosaurs.

Some of the attacks are pretty gruesome.

So, yeah, let me give you the IMDb synopsis here, as we always do.

So, like I said, it was written and directed by Andrew Patterson and stars Matthew McConaughey.

And playing his foster daughter is, I think this is her first... her first uh acting role is angelina looking glass um or at least like her first like major like movie um so yeah i guess kurt russell's also in it although it's kind of a bit part he's only in it like towards the end of the movie um but those are like your your major players i'd say um You know, Connor, I feel like most of the time when I go to see a movie like this, I mostly come away from it pretty happy with it.

For me, the main problem that I have is that I, like, so much of the first half of the movie is devoted to making you, like, really really buy into the idea of this this salt of the earth community and and amsaya as this like this great guy who has his own life philosophy and like he's he's got this this you know he's he him him and his former foster daughter katari a lot of the the early parts of the movie are him like teaching her the bee business and he's like teaching her all of these things about his philosophy about beekeeping and community so is

matthew is matthew bahane hey basically doing himself like doing his like you know how he sometimes can get a little philosophizing and he can a little bit yeah

there actually is a decent amount of that yeah and and like so there's a lot of scenes like that and there's a lot of scenes there's some scenes where he's like he's getting the guys over and they all come in the kitchen they're playing music together and he's trying to get Kateri to come out of her shell and sing along with them and she's all like you know nervous and everything but everybody in in the community is so nice and friendly and it's like after a point I was getting a little bit like This is a little much.

Like, I think they're laying it on a little thick with the salt of the earth people here and trying to make us believe that this community is so, like, idyllic and perfect and Amaziah is such a perfect, you know, philosophizer.
