So, you know,
12:55
one of what I really heard from you, you know, we've had this conversation personally and then you came on plenty.
13:04
we had a little bit deeper and now we're having it more deeper deeply.
13:07
And then like, you know, I, I read your newsletter.
13:09
I love it.
13:10
And so just, there's a lot there.
13:11
And one of the things that I really understand from you and it, it, it gave me words and a framework to explain what I had already been feeling, which is like, I don't actually, for me personally, you know, I'm an Enneagram 7.

22:50
And I got to feel in real time how taking care of myself before the list is over made life and time so much more enjoyable instead of like the someday.
23:48
[laughs]
23:48
So I wanna add a little metaphor to that for anyone who needs a visual.
23:56
The root word for human is the same as the root word for humus, which humus is the, uh, nutrient-rich topsoil, and we really need to be recovering the quality of our soil on planet Earth if we're gonna keep going here.
24:14
That is a completely different conversation.
24:16
[laughs] But I got really passionate about regenerative agriculture as a metaphor.
24:21
I am not a farmer, but I do buy from regenerative farmers.
24:25
Um, and when I looked at the root word for human being the same as the root word for humus, I was like, "What is that?" And it is, the meaning is of ...
28:15
Yeah.
6:31
Yeah
6:32
... marriage-wise, things have, I mean, like, our relationship at the core, I would say, this'll be interesting to hear our different perspectives, but, uh, like it wasn't really hard because we were fighting or someone was cheating or, you know, someone was, like, addicted to gambling or something.
6:49
It was, um, the birth of our first daughter was really traumatic for me, and I went into quite a bit of postpartum anxiety and, um, and insomnia.
7:00
And, uh, and she was really sick, so we had a very sick baby for the first year of parenthood.
7:05
And, um, it was like, it was awful.
7:09
Um, just becoming a mother was s- 10, 100 million times harder than I ever could have expected.

20:49
Okay.
20:50
And our bodies h- are, come preloaded with this incredible technology that no one ever was taught because religious conditioning and cultural conditioning, especially for women, but a- for everyone, has taught us that the body is, like, dirty or shameful or desirous and meant to be, like, we should suppress everything, or in the spiritual community it's like, "Oh, that's just a meat suit." And I'm like, "No." We are designed to be able to have these incredible states of consciousness, these incredible states of ecstasy, these deep knowings, this connection with nature, um, that to me, it's our greatest source of power, and if we can learn to fully inhabit our bodies, that is our inroad to being our most powerful selves.

10:07
Ah.
10:07
And I'd be like, "What? How is that possible?" So anyway, the thing is our nervous system and our brain are part of the same system.
10:18
They're talking to each other constantly, and they really are responsible for what's happening subconsciously and what's happening unconsciously.
10:25
And so we want to have them supporting our dreams, as opposed to what they do by default, which is not supporting our dreams.
10:34
Because everything we want around money, around abundance, around our businesses, around, uh, well, everything, is something that largely we've never had before, and many times our ancestors have never had it, and most of our friends and family have not had it either.
10:51
And so according to [laughs] our nervous system and our brain, everything we want is a complete and total threat, which is why when I was, uh, talking to somebody unbelievably successful the other day, who has a business who does, like, six times the revenue mine does or something, maybe not that much, but, like, so much bigger, and we were discussing...
11:14
And I, I wanna bring this example up because I, what I'm highlighting is that making more money does not solve this problem that I'm about to say, but I am gonna tell you what does.

23:46
Right

13:57
Mm.
13:57
So we were on a call with our therapist, who's wonderful, and [laughs] David, our therapist, was like, "Kate, I want you to close your eyes and imagine that Mike has just come home and said, 'Babe, I just made $10 million.
14:10
So for the time being, you don't have to do a thing,' and we're good." And David was like, "How does that feel in your body? What are you experiencing right now?" Now, the thing that you and I both know about visualization is that our unconscious that makes itself known through physical sensations and feelings in the body does not have any sense of time.
speaker_2UNKNOWN
15:44
Oh.
15:44
And I was addicted to it.
15:46
And I didn't know who I would be.
15:48
In fact, I would feel dead inside without that fuel source of stress and pressure, of like, "You have to do this because there's a time limit, there's urgency.
15:58
You're gonna not be able to feed your kids.
20:00
That's-
20:00
So it's just, it's just deep, deep conditioning from being raised in a culture that is fundamentally consumerist and materialistic.
20:11
And listen, I, I like nice things, so I'm not shaming anyone for wanting stuff.
20:15
But like that is our culture.
20:17
And that the idea that when we have more, we are somehow, we, we have like higher status.
20:28
You know, fundamentally, all of us are running survival programs.
20:32
We are animals.

25 MINS LATER

45:46
Mm-hmm
