We have had many series for her.
Nhora Lucía SerranoGUEST
45:25
Um, and so we thought that it would be nice in sort of giving that early history to juxtapose it with Kate Beaton, who essentially calls a spade a spade.
Nhora Lucía SerranoGUEST
45:34
And we were able to reprint, uh, the whole series she did of essentially Lois going, "You are in my way." And Superman being essentially, uh, a little bit aggressive, a little bit, uh, like, "Don't you want me? Aren't I here? How can I help you?" And she's like, "I'm doing my job.
Nhora Lucía SerranoGUEST
45:53
You're in my way." Um, and so that sets up already with a canonical figure that there was always that tension there for the reporter.

And having read one other, like, big work about working in the oil patch, which is Dux, Kate Beaton, the Canadian graphic novel, I was so thrilled to see a different take also diving into a woman's experience.

Are you familiar with that title? Yeah.
Evan DorkinGUEST
41:35
It's character.
Evan DorkinGUEST
41:36
It's... visuals it's dialogue there's so much going on in comics there's so much invisible writing and and and and interest going on on the page that you don't have to be a perfect writer or artist and i tell people how many times have you read a comic whether it's spider-man or it's dan klaus or it's or it's you know kate beaton or whatever you like right manga pick up a comic and you're reading it and you look and you go wow that arm looks weird Or, yeah, that animal, that's not a really great drawn dog.
Evan DorkinGUEST
42:09
Does it make you throw the comic away? Do you drop it and stop reading and stop liking that person's art? Absolutely not.
Evan DorkinGUEST
42:15
You move on.
