On tracks like Karma Police, subtle automation of filter sweeps under guitar parts creates a sense that the mix is breathing and evolving over time.

Instead of a static sound, the mix becomes fluid, guiding the listener through each musical moment.

In terms of microphone placement, a close micing approach was favored for guitars to capture nuance.

And I like that.

It was also, I think, an inspiration for Karma Police by Radiohead.
