Let's start with Peacock's adaptation of Karin Slaughter's 2017 psychological thriller, The Good Daughter, premiering November 12th.

Corinne Slaughter is currently a dominant force in television.

This is her third major adaptation recently, following "Will Trent" and "Pieces of Her." But this project feels distinctly heavier.

now can we talk to jennifer the reader and can you tell us a little bit about like who who your favorite thriller authors are what are you reading it's a very hard question we hate when people it's

a hard question um there are so many writers that i really really love um i love karen slaughter I've been reading her for a really, really long time.

And she's a friend now, which is cool because I can ask her, I can pick her brain about things that she has seen and done and what she's learned.

But the thing with Karen that I want to talk about when I talk about Karen is not how successful she is, which obviously she is.

No.

I was saying like one of probably the most disturbing or a really, really good disturbing... mystery was we're all guilty here like and it's a i mean it's a pretty dark mystery but thriller um and there are just some really really great twists by karen slaughter there's like a she's kind of building this world i think she just came out with another book in the in the series just about these two people but um It's dark.

And I like that, but it's one of those books that maybe I don't want to read it right before I go to bed.

just saying i really struggle to retain any sort of authors actors anything like that i'm so bad with it

yeah and i'm part of a book club too and um i i can never remember the characters names i'm like oh yeah the guy that did this you know or did that you know but um but the the author that i'm reading right now is um is Karen Slaughter, and she has a lot of these police detective mystery type of books where

you're kind of

following along with the detective to figure out who did the crime.

So I like a lot of those types of

stories.

Yes, I've heard of Karen Slaughter.

Was she, was it The Good Daughter was big, wasn't it? I think, I don't know if you've read that one.

And I think every author I talk to has a different level of participation in when a book gets optioned for a film.

I've talked to Karen Slaughter, for example.

She was a showrunner, and she was very involved.

So every author is different in terms of how involved.

And

so with a psychological thriller title, that's like Pretty Girls by Karen Slaughter.

I have this conversation all the time where I say that is one of the scariest books I have ever read in my whole life.

Like it gave me nightmares.

I definitely think that she pulled a fast one over on everybody.
