So what are you seeing in kids who are living in survival mode?
5:56
So it's very case by case.
5:58
Some children, their emotional response is to suppress and go to food, to go to drugs, to go to some children, like from a young age, to go to alcohol.
6:08
We see it all.
6:09
We have a lot of children who are born with five different kinds of drugs in their systems.
6:13
And from a young age, they're addicted.
6:14
So that's how they know how to live, right? Just addicted and suppressing.
7:25
And what I've
5:04
How did you first start this? Like, what was the first thing that you did? Did you build the curriculum? Did you start trying to attract an audience online? Like, what were those first steps getting your business off the ground?
5:14
So the very first step was actually completely organic.
5:17
I was going through the process of discovering what's going on with myself, overcoming some of my own issues with food addiction, and then I...
5:25
And this is a little bit of more of a [laughs] spiritual angle of the story, but it's, I, I, I love to share it because it's actually true.
5:31
When I was going through this process, I was going on a trip with my dad all over Europe, and I was in Venice, and I was really at a phase where I didn't know what to do with life.
5:41
Like, I had just left so much of my career path behind.
5:45
I was like, "I'm done with engineering.
10:18
Yeah
4:26
So can you tell us a little bit about your approach so that listeners can understand how you work with families and what you do for them?
4:33
So in very simple terms, I mean, to me, this is extremely personal because I was an overweight kid that my parents tried everything under the sun to address, except what actually really mattered, which was the emotional stress in the house, my undiagnosed ADHD, which even to be honest, my parents had no idea until I became an adult.
4:57
and saw that I had that diagnosis.
4:59
But a lot of the deeper things that actually mattered that were never addressed.
5:02
My mom, for example, she would bring me to Jenny Craig.
5:04
I did a whole four-month program with them, lost a bunch of weight.
5:09
If your audience doesn't know the Jenny Craig program, it's frozen meals that you're forced to eat, basically calorie restriction, you know, as a principal and weight watchers, nutritionists, dietitians, summer camps, weight loss camps, all of it, right? Everything addressing the surface, what you eat and how much you move to burn calories.

And what are some small changes that families can make at home to help build a healthier relationship with food?
24:10
It all comes down to identity.
24:12
Like, what is, what is your relation...
24:15
Like, who do you see yourself in relationship to food? Is food something you use for celebration, for joy, for, uh, you know-The, the, the a little bit of feeling good at the end of a hard day, or is food y- your primary source of fuel? You eat because you want to feel good, you want to do, have the energy to do the things that you love.
24:34
This is the most important thing.
24:36
And then once you have established that, like what is truly, what do you want your relationship with food to be, it's simple.
24:41
You craft a life around it.

And what's something about children's health and food that you think every parent should understand but really get, rarely gets taught?
