Kalka–Shimla Railway

Then in 1850, under Lord Dalhousie, they built a much more formidable road, a road that then could take bigger carts, bullet carts, et cetera, et cetera.

Then finally, in 1903, they opened the Shimla Railway.

And that, as it did in Darjeeling, that changed everything.

So 1903, the railway starts.

But the train was by far the most practical way of getting up there.
