In local news, drones could be used to fight wildfires in the Roaring Fork Valley as early as next year.

The Aspen Fire Protection District started training its staff on how to operate the new unmanned aircraft over the weekend.

Deputy Fire Chief Andy Fisher says he wants to use the technology to reach fires in remote locations before they spread out of control.

It's very user-friendly.

Aspen Fire wants to train all of its staff to use the drones by next spring.

The Kittle Fire near Ruedi Reservoir is about 75% contained now and remains at just over 28 acres.

And the Aspen Music Festival wrapped up its summer season yesterday.

Aspen Public Radio's Hannah Weaver reports.

Thousands of people packed into the music tent, and hundreds more sat on the grass for the festival's grand conclusion.

The Sunday afternoon show featured Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
