Before we explain how Whitebeard got one of his iconic scars, let's quickly go over the King of the Beasts, Kaido.

Considering that Kaido is one of the most durable beings in the world, it's not surprising that throughout his entire life, he was only scarred once.

To see exactly how this scar came to be, we have to go back around 20 years to when Kaido forcefully took over Wano in Oden's absence.

When Oden finally returned, he was furious and immediately rushed over to deal with him.

During their fight, Oden infused his two swords, Enma and Ame no Habakiri, with haki and managed to cut Kaido open, giving him PTSD for the rest of his life.

The end result was the massive X-shaped scar on Kaido's body, which he still carries to this day.

Meanwhile, Kaido's outside, and he's just staring at all the Akazaya's bodies.

In the end, Luffy, with his allies, came out on top as the victor and freed Wano from his grasp.

While people across the world celebrated Luffy's victory, Blackbeard made a move in secret.

Now, the idea of potentially three Emperors of the Sea turning up to Marineford would have been catastrophic because you've got to remember these four Emperors of the Sea, they're not all working in unison.

And this really shows that initial power of an Emperor.

Albert, Ethan, and Clara had extremely difficult childhoods, but despite being prisoners, the three bonded over their ordeal.

But soon enough, a certain man would free the Lunarians, and this man was none other than Kaido.

Kaido was also one of the research subjects in Punk Hazard, but he would go on to cause a mass breakout and escape with the Lunarians.

This event was when Kaido formed his own crew, giving Albert the name King, while Clara and Ethan tagged along due to the fact that they had nowhere else to go.

Many years would pass, and the crew would become massively influential around the world.

Eventually, Kaido set his sights on the country of Wano, and so would begin the persecution of the Kozuki family.

By this time, King, Ethan, and Clara had developed a deep bond.

Despite their bond, Clara and Ethan didn't have the same ambitions as King to make Kaido the king of the pirates.
