Kadmiel

They appointed the Levites from 20 years old and upward to supervise the work of the house of the Lord.

And Yeshua with his sons and his brothers and Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah together, supervised the workmen in the house of God, along with the sons of Henadad and the Levites, their sons, and brothers.

So the work on the foundation begins in earnest.

But keep in mind, this is just the foundation, okay? So it tells us in verse 10, "...and when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with symbols to praise the Lord according to the directions of David, king of Israel." And they sang responsibly, praising and giving thanks to the Lord, saying, For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.

The priests, the descendants of Jediah, through the family of Jeshua, 973, of Ema, 1052, of Pasho, 1247, of Harim, 1017.

The Levites, the descendants of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the line of Odaviah, 74.

The musicians, the descendants of Asaph, 128.

The gatekeepers of the temple, the descendants of Shalom, Atar, Talmon, Akub, Atita, and Shubai, 139.

Then the second one is Binnui.

And the third one is Kadmiel.

I think I've heard of Kadmiel.

Then I've heard of Sherebiah.

Okay? And then Judah.

Moreover, the Levites.

The family of Harim, one thousand seventeen.

These are the Levites who returned from exile: Families of Jeshua and Kadmiel, descendants of Hodaviah, seventy-four.

The singers of the family of Asaph, one hundred twenty-eight.

The gatekeepers of the families of Shullam, Ater, Talmon, Akkub, Hatita, and Shobai, one hundred thirty-nine.

The workforce was made up of everyone who had returned from exile, including Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, Jeshua, son of Jehozadak, and his fellow priest, and all the Levites.

The Levites who were 20 years old or older were put in charge of rebuilding the Lord's temple.

The workers at the temple of God were supervised by Jeshua and his sons and relatives, and Kadmiel and his sons, all the descendants of Hadoviah.

They were helped in this task by the Levites of the family of Hanadad.

The sons of Harim, 1,017.

The Levites, the sons of Jeshur, of Kadmiel, and of the sons of Hodavar, 74.

The singers, the sons of Asaph, 148.

The gatekeepers, the sons of Shalom, the sons of Eter, the sons of Telmon, the sons of Akub, the sons of Hittite, the sons of Shobai 138, the Nethanim, the sons of Zihar, the sons of Hasufa, the sons of Tabioth, the sons of Keros, the sons of Sire, the sons of Padon, the sons of Labana, the sons of Hagaba, the sons of Selmai, the sons of Hanan.

These were the heads of the priests and their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

Moreover, the Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Ca- Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who led the thanksgiving psalms.

And they stood where they were and read from the book of the law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and spent another quarter in confession and in worshiping the Lord their God.

Standing on the stairs of the Levites were Jeshua, or Jeshua, Banai, uh, Kadmiel, uh, Shabaniah, Bani, I'm assuming, or Bunai probably, Bunai, uh, Sherebiah, Banai, uh, and Chanani, and they cried out with loud voices to the Lord their God.

And all the Levites, Jeshua, uh, Kadmiel, Banai, Hashabaneah, uh, Sherebiah, Hodiah, uh, Shabaniah, and Pethahiah said, "Stand up and praise the Lord your God, who is everl- who is from everlasting to everlasting." So they're getting ready to go ahead and pray, and they're, and they're confessing their sins.

Now, when it sits there and says, in the very beginning, it sits there and says that they were fasting and wearing sackcloth and putting dust on their heads.

Now, we've seen this before, okay? But just to kind of explain exactly why they do this, all right? Is number one, you know, I mean, there are people today and, and, you know, good on them.

Says, "These were the leaders of the priests and their associates, uh, in the days of Joshua." Uh, then it goes over the Levites.

And then verse 22, it says, "The family heads of the Levites in the days of Elishib, uh, uh, Joy- Joiada, uh, Johanan, and Jaddua, as well as those of the priests, they were, uh, recorded in the reign of Darius the Persian.

The family heads among the descendants of Levi up to the time of Johanan, uh, son of Elishib, were recorded in the Book of the Annals, and the leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua, and son of Kadmiel, and their associates who stood opposite them to give praise and thanksgiving, one section responding to the other as prescribed by David, the man of God." Then it says, uh, "Mattaniah, uh, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers who guarded the storerooms at the gates.

And they stood up in the place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord Yahweh, their God, for the, for one-fourth of the day.

And for another fourth, they confessed and worshiped the, the Lord Yahweh, their God." Verse four, "Then Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Shenai stood on the stairs of the Levites and cried out with a loud voice to the Lord Yahweh, their God, and the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Peth- Pethiah said, 'Stand up and bless the Lord Yahweh your God forever and ever.

Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.'" Okay, so I got teaching point for verses one through three.

So we'll stop at verse six.

"Baruch, Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin, Majamin, Mazziah, Bilgai, and Shemamiah, Shemaiah.

Those were the priests." So now we're in verse nine.

"The Levites: Jeshua the son of Azaniah, B- Binnui of the, of the sons of Henadad and Kadmiel." Verse 10, "Their brethren: Shebaniah, Hodijah, uh, Kelita, P- Palaia-" Hanun, Micaiah, Rehob, Hashabiah, Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, Hodijah, Bani and Beninu.
