Just Like Heaven

Later on, we had an episode on The Cure, a big band for both of us, a band that we both love.

And we had a comment here from Tanya who said, when the episode started, I thought to myself, a forest or just like heaven? Just like heaven was my pick.

Not my favorite Cure songs, but best contenders for their signature song.

After listening to the episode, I think Gavin, Gavin from the Holy Hour podcast, he was sort of a guest on that episode, made some great points.

And so I think people who are really, really like they love the cure.

A lot of them would say a forest.

Um, I don't think it ever had, you know, um, kind of the widespread, um, appeal of something like Just Like Heaven or, um, Friday I'm In Love or something like that, you know? And, but I think, I think that Forest might be, might be their most, uh, influential song.

Yeah, and it's also one of their most played songs live.

Anytime I hear that song, no matter where I am, I drop everything and just dance.

Pure joy, spinning and losing it, singing every lyric.

if anybody has not heard it, she released a live album last year from Glastonbury.

And there are two tracks with Robert Smith.

You either sink or you swim.

And by 86, Robert Smith is a household name who's sitting down to write Just Like Heaven, and Adrian Boylan's being asked if he wants to be locked away in prison or go off to the mental institution, because he's just tried to kill his father.

Managed to still get a few more more hits thrown in kind of early on the fact that the cure for example are the level of band that they are where in a 27 song set list they can do a run of push in between days just like heaven kind of just in the middle and

like 10 or so songs in.

Yeah and Just Like Heaven Again this being my first time ever seeing The Cure Just Like Heaven is I think of like the pop Cure songs Like the ones you hear on the radio I think Just Like Heaven is the best one That's my favourite This was just like some of the happiest I've been all year Like hearing them play that song It was just fucking beautiful

There's been a few moments of that.

Again, there's other songs we'll get onto in other sets that kind of brought that level to me.
