Junior Watson

This localized show would turn into a series of concerts across the country, each featuring some of the best harmonica players in the world.

On this album, we get to enjoy the fabulous guitar playing of Anson Funderburg and Junior Watson.

Here's Mark Hummel with You Better Wash Yourself.

Oh, watch yourself.

You know, Jimmy Witherspoon or anybody you want to hear.

I'm a big Junior Watson fan.

You know, play stuff with Junior Watson in it.

You know, you always pick up a cool quirky turnaround from him, you know.

And, oh.

And I'm not too proud to say, okay, now with the real...

Mark Hummel's been posting all his reels with Junior and Anson, you know.

I mean, there you got Junior Watson right in front of you, you know, and you can see exactly what he's doing.

I'd known Finis probably longer.

But Slim had kinda come into the LA scene and had been working with Junior Watson and with Kid Ramos, and he was, again, with Sw- Slim really brought the swing.

Yeah.

You know? He was the obvious choice for, like, the most swinging guy.

It was one of those things where just the combination of people and the time, the time period, uh, everybody, you know...

I, I look at myself, I, I was so lucky and I was, like, in the right place at the right time, and I was the right guy in that moment.

I was coming from a, a little bit different background than some of the other guitar players around LA, but I, once I started to really absorb Junior Watson, you know, Mike Watson was such an influence, and Hollywood Fats, the legacy of Fats, and he was still alive and still around, and I got to see him play a few times.

Got to shake his hand once or twice.
