June Rebellion

And

this is sort of framed around or, you know, it gets to what they call the June Rebellion, right? Which is really only like this two-day thing.

these students at a barricade and i guess from what i was seeing is like mostly forgotten the history outside of this because victor hugo just happened to be there when it happened and i i hadn't realized that he publishes the book like pretty soon after it's only like 25 or 30 years after the events that happened i always just i i guess i hadn't thought about it but like that's still relatively new history um which is kind of interesting

And I think what also sometimes sort of speaks to like what's happening in the 1848 section of that in this piece is that in, so this is June.

To Javert, that isn't an administrative error, it's a cosmic violation.

It's affront to the natural order, and this pursuit eventually brings them to the barricades in Paris during the June rebellion of 1832.

This is where the long-simmering tension finally boils over.

Javert has gone undercover to spy on the student revolutionaries, but a street urchin exposes his true identity.

This song is first introduced in the ABC Cafe, sung by Enjolras and the students as they prepare for the uprising.

It is important to note that this is not the famous French Revolution of 1789.

This is the June Rebellion of 1832.

It's a very specific, much smaller historical event.
