what the moves are like what they're doing or like being able to interview a choreographer and have them speak about the process and then know it intimately as someone who also has danced and perform I think it adds like a layer of nuance to the work but also being in class and like meeting dancers and I got to know about other performances that were happening or like really interesting dance things when I started at the LA Times a lot of the dance coverage was like stuff on stage and I love the stuff in the theater, but like I grew up watching music videos and like really loving the dance in a music video or even like going to a burlesque show.

Or I wrote a dance piece about strippers who worked at Jumbo's Clown Room and how they kind of took their power back by starting their own virtual show during the pandemic.

So I was like really interested in all different types of dance.

And I think having that insider kind of knowledge, I want to say, or just like deep care about the art form really helped inform my writing.

And then, like, oh, God, four years later I wrote something, uh, the, the third thing I ever wrote online, Davey republishes it on Jalopnik, and literally says, "I met Johnny Lieberman at a strip club in Hollywood, California called Jumbo's Clown Room." [laughs]

Yep.

A club in LA that we love.
