Juma Khan Fateh

They were fighting one of their own.

Juma Khan Fateh, the self-styled Sultan of Darwaz.

Jumohan Fateh is not a typical Taliban commander.

He's not Pashtun, but a Sunni Tajik, a member of an ethnic group that makes up much of Badakhshan's population.

But Fateh's reign has ended.

The situation along the border has also calmed down.

when there is this situation that somebody gets to wield an inordinate amount of power over a short time that creates a lot of unrest in one area and that was the case of Juma Khan Fateh overnight he had become the sort of the Sultan of there was and like he was He had power of life and death over the residents and he was using this power in a very controversial way.

Now that he's been removed, I assume that power, authority is more spread over a number of different people.
