We actually got another story by Julie Watts that we're going to talk about later on in the show.

She's one of the few, along with Ashley Zavala up there, who's covering this stuff.

But yeah, Katie Porter freaked out on Julie Watts.

over simple, ordinary political questions in a campaign which she asked of the nine other candidates.

We have Susan Crabtree on from Real Clear Politics, knows a lot about Gavin.

And a reporter who we have gotten so much great info out of this year and for many years is Julie Watts over at CBS News California Investigates.

Her job is actually the California accountability correspondent.

And let's just say she brought some receipts with Gavin Newsom's shady dealings around the high-speed rail.

Laying tracks, the nation's first high-speed rail.

And Johnny, Gavin Newsom, in the image that you're seeing right there, is pounding a stake into the ground in tracks.

And thanks to reporting that we got last month from Julie Watts, we know that all of that was a prop and it was fake.

I'm surprised it wasn't done on a soundstage in Culver City.

And from experts that we've talked to, including investigative reporter Jennifer Van Laar, who was just on The Accountability Podcast, the language in this bill is so broad that it can be applied for all kinds of different things to tamp down investigative journalism, which, as we know, in a one-party state, is the only check on the government that we have.

We don't have an opposition party that really has any strength whatsoever, so the only check on the government that we have are the Ashley Zavalis, the Nick Shirleys, the Julie Watts, the Jennifer Van Laars, what have you, the Matthew Seadorfs.

And it's not just the fraud, by the way.

They take the same attitude about issues like crime.

Ashley Zavala is not one you can intimidate like that.

And Julie Watts, who just did so much on the diaper gate, and I know she's been on your podcast and on the show, she went harder because they were giving her a hard time.

They weren't replying to the Public Records Act request and just basically trying to tell her she was lying when she knew she wasn't.

So she's like, well, kind of forced my hand.

But it goes also with the Stop Nick Shirley Act.

They're sitting there and they're telling Ashley, this is not about investigative journalists.

The bill is... not aimed at you and it's all these things uh you know doesn't really apply but the bill language is extremely vague and given how they all talk to ashley and all the things the way they've crossed me susan crabtree julie watts we know that that whichever authority is going to try to charge someone under that is going to construe that wording in the most liberal way possible against the journalist so i have zero confidence that it won't be used to silence some of us
