Yeah, very, very important, I think, isn't it, that your values and behaviours as your own values and behaviours match those of the organisation that you're applying for, because it's a two way street, isn't it? so if we then move on to the job description this is where you'll find the responsibilities of the role now this can be quite an extensive list depending on the role you're applying for and it often includes things like excellent communication and documentation skills or things like the ability to demonstrate strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills so if you're looking at a job adverse advertisement and it says that the job requires excellent communication and documentation skills for example What does this actually mean? So if I can just ask you, Julie, what are employers really looking for when they say this?
5:27
Yeah, so excellent communication skills, I think in lots of nursing, health care roles, that's going to be part of the criteria.
5:36
What they're looking at is that you're able to and you have the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately.
5:43
So if you think about a typical role, a typical nurse role, healthcare support worker role, you're going to have that contact with patients first.
5:52
So your communication might be in explaining conditions, explaining care plans, maybe, you know, reassuring them on a procedure so that they understand.
6:03
And sometimes that might be adapting your communication.
6:06
So you're avoiding jargon and being as clear as you can in your approach to that.
