Julia Kowalski

[gentle music] There's something particularly engrossing and unsettling about the isolation at the heart of the new French horror film, Her Will Be Done, the second film from French director Julia Kowalski.

The film follows Nawascha, a young woman who feels trapped in her small village, suffocating under the expectations of her family, the conservatism of her community, and what appears to be a supernatural curse passed down from generations before.

At first it seems like a fairly typical art house folk horror film, but it slowly becomes something much more layered and, well, complicated.

The real movie I had, though, this week, the actual screener was for Her Will Be Done.

by Julia Kowalski.

I think I got the name right.

She did I Saw the Face of the Devil.
