Julia Jones

The first of which, this is just a little bit from the trailer of a film starring, well, some big names, basically.

This is not something you normally see at a Sundance movie when you have Ethan Hawke And Russell Crowe and Julia Jones and Austin Emilio and Avi Nash.

These people have already made careers for themselves in film.

And yet they all decided to work for basically peanuts, if anything, on a film called The Weight.

Absolutely.

I want to talk about Julia Jones.

I love her presence in the movie and how much of an impact that she has on the journey for Murphy.

And I'm really curious if that was a character that was always written that way on the page or was that something that was further developed with her coming on board, working with you? Just curious to know just where that character began and where it ended up in the end on the screen.

This stars Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe, Julia Jones, Austin Emilio, Avi Nash, and a few other folks.

It is the story of a tough, loving father...

In the height of the Great Depression, he is wrongfully imprisoned and separated from his daughter, and all he wants to do is be a model prisoner, finish his time so he can get back to his daughter before she becomes a ward of the state and is put up for adoption.

And they're flat out told, like, if anything goes missing, like any of you disappear, any of that gold, if like one ounce of this is missing, the deal's off and you're all fucked.

And so he's like, come on, guys, we can't fuck this up.

Along the way, they also run into another traveler, Julia Jones.

She is a runaway.

There's a great cast involved that include some people that people might know from the Walking Dead series, including Avi Nash, who plays a socialist named Singh, There's a loudmouth called Rankin, played by Austin Amelo, who I recognize from the Richard Linklater film Everybody Wants Some.

And an indigenous woman, Anna, played by Julia Jones, who gets involved in the group as well.

So this film, The Wait, it's got shades of things like the wages of fear or sorcery and that you're kind of following these guys on a mission.

They have to transport these goods.

It's a good driver for things.

I like a gold movie like Treasure of the Sierra Madre or something like that.

I also wanted to note that I think Julia Jones is Leah from Twilight in case that twists anyone's arm to go and see this film.

Yeah.

Austin Emilio is maybe the coldest I've ever seen a human being in my life.

Julia Jones, just fantastic.
