Why am I still here?
2:35
When the radiologist walks into the room, you know, something is really up.
2:40
And that's when they told me that they saw what looked like microcalcifications.
2:44
They had me set up to go see a breast surgeon in three days.
2:48
We did a biopsy in about a week and it was found that I had two different stages of cancer in that breast.
2:56
That was a very humbling time.
2:58
But even then, Christine, I was more focused on how am I going to make sure other people are okay? You know, making sure that they have the right sign-offs at work.

13:29
Can you talk about your PACE framework?
14:10
Could you tell us a little bit more about your work and how that intersects with transforming the healthcare system?
14:17
Yeah, just to start in the middle.
14:21
This was born of my own experience of burning out multiple times.
14:28
And because I've had such a varied experience, I've worked in academia, I've been in the clinical space sometimes simultaneously.
14:37
I've been a staff, I've been medical director, I've worked in corrections.
14:42
So because I've had such a varied past, The realization that you can burn out in academia, you can burn out in the clinical space, you can burn out when you're working in a managed healthcare organization.
14:55
That last time, which was between 2018 to 2020, made me say, hey, you might need to look into yourself for a bit just to see what's going on.
18:02
Is that something you can share with the listeners? Yeah.
2:19
So how did those two experiences together lead you to create the PACE framework?
2:25
Yeah.
2:26
So that's a great question because sometimes people think it's one or the other.
2:30
I think that they came right around the same time, and what they forced me to do was ask different questions, right? So I've never been afraid of hard work at all.
2:42
I'm, I mean, I'm a physician.
2:44
I've been through medical school, I've been through [laughs] hard knocks, and I've held executive positions, I've held leadership positions, I've held academic positions, and I've built a business, raised a family, all of those things, cared for aging parents.
2:58
So, you know, I am a high achiever.
