A court order from the judge overseeing the case against Brian Kohlberger, who's suspected of murdering four University of Idaho students, publicly released Monday, outlines his new rules regarding cameras in the courtroom during Kohlberger's trial.

Judge John Judge of Idaho's 2nd Judicial District in Latah County previously said he would permit cameras but wanted to have more control over them.

In the court order, Judge said he will grant Kohlberger's motion to remove cameras operated by the media, including both video and still photography.

There was just too much information, too much evidence, and too much out there for a judge to go against what a grand jury has already decided.

Judge John Judge of Idaho's 2nd Judicial District issued his written decision late Friday to deny the defense team's request to dismiss the indictment on five legal grounds, including that the prosecution committed misconduct because it allegedly withheld evidence from the grand jurors.

Judges' rulings were published to Idaho's court website Monday morning.

And that's what we went over in the previous two episodes.

Before finalizing the delay of the trial, Judge confirmed directly with Koberger several times that he understood the right he was giving up and that he wished to proceed.

Absolutely, Koberger responded the final time, well, no matter how long they have, the results at the end are going to be the same in my opinion.

The district attorney has enormous power, the power to decide who gets prosecuted, what charges are brought, and how aggressively justice is pursued.

So when voters in the 21st Judicial District choose their next DA, they're not just choosing another elected official.

They're choosing the person who will help determine what justice looks like in Livingston, St. Helena, and Tanchpahoa parishes.

Today, we're talking with Sherman Mack, a former legislator and longtime attorney who who wants to do that job.

But I do think that consistency is something that needs to be added.

So one of the changes that we're going to make to the district attorney's office is we're going to have a screening unit.

Right now, if you are charged with a crime by an investigative agency here in the 21st Judicial District, you have a one in probably 12 chance.

I think there are 12 felony prosecutors here in the 21st District, of going, whoever you're allotted to, whatever division you're allotted to, that's the attorney that's going to be screening that charge.

The judge overseeing Brian Koberger's upcoming murder trial ruled Thursday that prosecutors may pay for the jurors all but three short portions of the 911 call that was made hours after four University of Idaho students were fatally stabbed and also determined that texts between two surviving roommates were likely admissible.

Judge Stephen Hippler of Idaho's 4th Judicial District rejected the defense argument to restrict the call during their client's upcoming trial.

His attorney also requested that only the approved portions of the recording with 911 dispatch be allowed or a transcript of the call, not both.

But, Hipler decided that jurors would be given a transcript to be used to aid them in understanding all of the permitted portions of the conversation with the dispatcher.
