Judgment Night

I think John Woo's first American movie.

Judgment Night with Emilio Estevez and Cuba Gooding Jr. It's a badass movie.

Carlito's Way, Beethoven's second.

Okay.

Maybe it seems a little odd when you first see who's in this song, but if you think it through a little bit, it makes sense.

And this could have very easily been on our Judgment Night soundtrack that we covered a couple episodes ago.

You have a rapper mixing it up here with all the rappers.

It's probably the signature song from the movie.

And you get tons of hits off of these soundtracks for all these movies, I think from Juice to Above the Rim.

I mean, Judgment Night.

I mean, all of these things had to come from that moment, too.

So it really is just a moment like New Jack City creates an entirely new dynamic of where filmmaking is going to go in the 90s.

I'm glad you mentioned, A, the soundtrack, but B, Judgment Night, because Judgment Night actually feels like the meeting of the two things that I was going to talk about, which is New Jack City is so interesting in that the story is kind of integrated into the soundtrack.

The music from the soundtrack is happening around it.

And that got me to thinking about Singles, which came out the same year, which is very much the same premise where they're going to see Soundgarden in the film.

And I just find those two to be very similar in the integration of the soundtrack into the story.
