Jude the Apostle

All his battle buddies showed up.

Its imagery paints a portrait of the apostle, the Catholic saint of lost causes, releasing birds of hope and peace into the world.

All right, so verse two, it says, "The names of the 12 apostles are these," and then we get a list.

All, you know, "Simon, who is called Peter, Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector, James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him." And so this, like, there's a difference between disciples and apostles, and this is where it's like he's introducing apostles.

Um, in Luke 6:13 it says, "When the day came, he called his disciples and chose from them 12 whom he named apostles." That's Luke 6:13.

So it's like group of disciples, but they're not necessarily apostles.

It's the same guy.

Okay? Thaddaeus is Jude, so if you ever hear St.

Jude or watch the commercials that are just like gut-wrenching [laughs]

His name is found next in the book of the Acts in the first chapter in the 13th verse.

When they were come in, they went up into the inner chamber where they were abiding, both Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James, the son of Alphaeus and Simon, the zealot and Judas, the son of James.

Thus he is found in the apostolic company and undoubtedly went with that company into the temple.

We find him, however, once more in the book of Revelation 21, 14, where describing the city of God, it is said in the wall of the city had 12 foundations and on them, the 12 names of the 12 apostles of the lamb.
