So scientists have used seed elegans to study the effects of high glucose.

So in a landmark study that was published in the Journal of Diabetes, researchers exposed the worms, the seed elegans, to elevated glucose concentrations designed to produce internal glucose levels comparable to those who they have observed to have poorly controlled diabetes.

And they found that high glucose shortened the lifespan and increased oxidative stress-related processes.

And they also investigated the mitochondrial dysfunction and the advanced glycation and related product mechanisms.
