Joshua Douglas

I'm Tom Martin.

Thanks for joining us for this latest in our series, Democracy Optimist, with University of Kentucky election and voting law research professor Joshua Douglas.

In this episode, we take a close look at the health of American democracy in this moment, with highly consequential midterm elections now just weeks away.

And if you're of a mind that even with its imperfections, democracy provides a pretty good way of life for a country as diverse as ours, we'll hear about meaningful ways all of us have at our disposal to support and even defend democracy.

Here's Joshua Douglas.

I've heard it a lot.

America is currently at one of the most perilous moments in its history.

But in my ideal world, given the system we have currently with the U.S. Supreme Court, I'd like to see state courts step in.
