Joshua 6

They were a Bronze Age version of the Gestapo, ruthless tyrants on the plains of Canaan.

Until the day that Joshua showed up, until the day that the army marched in, until the day that the bricks cracked and the boulders broke, until the day that everything shook, the stones of the walls, the knees of the king, even the molars of the soldiers, and the untoppable fortress met the unstoppable force, and mighty Jericho crumbled.

But here's what you need to know about Joshua.

He didn't bring the walls down.

God did.

Now, Joshua never swung a hammer.

Joshua never dislodged a brick.

God did that for Joshua, and God will do that for you.

Ultimately, spiritual warfare comes down to whose voice we're going to choose to believe.

Will we trust the good shepherd who walks us into peace, who speaks truth, life, and identity? Or are we going to listen to the enemy who only comes to steal, kill, and destroy? Today, we're going to look at a few chapters in Joshua.

We're going to see what happens when we choose to listen to the voice of God.

We'll be asking the question, how does God's voice shape the way we engage in spiritual battle? I'm going to pray and then we'll dive in.

And so they locked themselves out of their destiny.

And they died wandering in the wilderness.

And then 40 years later, as Moses is about to die, and he's handed over the reins to Joshua, we find ourselves at the Jordan River.

A new generation of people, a new leader, same place.

One thing that impressed me about Joshua, he learned from the lessons of Moses.

He said, "We can skip this." Go over to Joshua 6, that's where they walk around the walls of Jericho.

One day I'm gonna preach y'all a, a remix of my favorite sermon from my youth.

It was called Don't Stop on Six.

"According to all that is written therein.

For then," after doing, "you shall make your way prosperous, and you shall have good success." Joshua 6 from verse 1.
