Joshua 24

We'll read one more scripture and then I'll begin to teach Joshua chapter 24.

Joshua 24, we'll begin our reading from verse 14.

I always like scripture to begin speaking for itself and then we'll take it from there.

Now therefore, Joshua is wrapping up his time now.

When you continue the reading, you will see that an earthquake happened and it opened up the earth and swallowed over 3,000 of them.

Hallelujah.

Then we come to Joshua 24.

Remember that when you read Joshua from verse 1, Joshua was the successor of Moses.

You did, however, drop in to the third part of a three-part series, so you might want to go back two episodes.

Lawson and I are talking about one verse from the Old Testament in the Bible, Joshua 24, 15, and we're breaking it apart because it looks like there's a three-part command in that verse that Joshua talks about toward the end of his recorded history with the nation of Israel.

And we've been talking about that verse now for two weeks, and this is week number three.

So you may want to go back because what we're going to address today is...

And Jesus also said, I did not come to be served.

I came to serve.

So I'm coming back to this Joshua 24, 15, the word serve.

I am in submission to God best I can be.

But yeah, they need to be able to fail because there's no learning without it.

You know, you take Joshua 24, it says, "Choose this day who you're gonna serve." God even says, "I'm not gonna make you do this.

There's no have to here." And the thing that, especially in those middle years, guys, you wanna be around when they fail.

Mm-hmm.

God gives us land and treasures we did not toil for.

Joshua 24:13, Joshua was reminding his people, many of the things that you have today is not because you are the smartest or because you are the most hardworking.

It's just because it, uh, is grace.

It's grace.

But the height and the proof of love is when you hand them over to Jesus.

I like what Joshua said in Joshua 24:15, "Choose you this day whom you will serve.

But as for me and my household, I shall serve the Lord." I need to hand over my family to God.
