Joshua 10

Fifth, the sun standing still.

Joshua 10, 13.

In the middle of a critical battle, the sun stopped in the sky for nearly a full day so Israel could win the victory God had promised them.

This defies all scientific understanding, but it shows us God has absolute control over creation itself.

Joshua chapter six through nine summarizes how when the Israelites obeyed God, he brought Israel victory in his central campaign against the city's in Canaan of Jericho and Ai, and how even the unauthorized peace treaty Joshua forged with Gibeon, another major city of Canaan, and galvanized the southern kings of Jerusalem like Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon, to form an alliance against Israel.

Joshua 10 then summarizes the conquest of those kings and the rest of southern Canaan.

Finally, Joshua 11 records the Israelite conquest of the northern Canaanite kings led by Jabin of Hazor.

Joshua faithfully obeyed.

Joshua 10:25: "Joshua said to them, 'Do not be afraid or dismayed.

Be strong and courageous, for thus the Lord will do to all the enemies against whom you fight.'" If you've grown up with children's Bibles or Sunday school lessons, you may have thought that the fight for the promised land ended with Jericho.

Today's Bible verse is Joshua 10-6.

The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal, Do not abandon your servants.

He quotes Genesis 32, 3.

Genesis 35, 25, Joshua 9, 6, Joshua 10, 6, and Jeremiah 40, verse 12.

All of those seem to speak of a singular phrase, not in plural with the latter two.

He says, hey, there seems to be like an indefinite article with the first, and then the other two are referring to places.

Question six.

During the battle against, the verse is Joshua 10, verse 12.

Joshua 14, verse 10 to 14.

So let me quote my first scripture.

Joshua 10:12 from 14.

Joshua was fighting Amalek.

They were a very wicked people.

By 6:00 in the evening, all the men of God here know that story, darkness was coming.

Now, look at what Joshua did.

Joshua 10:12, put it on the board.

Joshua spoke to the Lord.

What he's saying is that he wants God to be as real in action in his own life and time as he was back there in the days of Moses in the wilderness.

Verse 6 says, touches on God's intervention in the war against the Canaanites at the time of the Jewish conquest under Joshua, particularly against the southern confederation in the battle that's described in Joshua 10.

That's when God sent hailstones, probably accompanied by flashes of lightning, against the Jews' enemies.

Verse 7, the deliverance from mighty waters may refer to the parting of the Red Sea.
