Josh Malerman

But overall, you have a rather bland movie that looks cool.

Uh, I think that the book that it's based on, Incidents Around the House, by Josh Malerman, is probably a good book, and some of it just doesn't translate to film.

For example, the just-mentioned ball pit scene.

Also, after the party, the friend of the family, Ruis, uh, played by Alec, uh, Secranu- Secaranu, offers his home for them for protection.

Let's get-

Uh, our writer is Nathan Elston and Josh Malerman.

And now I'm guessing one of them is who wrote the book.

[laughs]

I don't know.

So pulling it up now.

Josh Malerman.

He would be the one, 'cause it's not the other one.

That is last Thursday from when we are filming this.

Um, it was directed by Rob Savage and written by Nathan Elston and Jo- Josh Malerman.

Um, starring Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass, and Arabella Olivia Clarke, 10-year-old diva.

Who is so good-

C-PTSD girls to the front.

Ah.

[laughs] Um, and it was adapted, um, from the book Incidents Around the House, which was written by Josh Malerman, um, who also obviously helped write the movie.

Um, and that book came out in 2024.

Other Mommy, directed by Rob Savage.

Uh, with the, uh, story by Josh Malerman, uh, and but there's another writer here, Nathan Elston.

Uh, stars Jessica Chastain.

Oscar winner? I should know this.

... that was written back in, like, 2014.

So yeah, I think it's, like, Josh Malerman.

He's a novelist.

But you know how it is.

We've got one review this week, the review being of The Mommy.

Now, I have read the book that the, uh, the film is an adaptation of, which was based on Josh Malerman's, uh, instances around the house.

So I'll be talking a bit about the book later on, along with the film.

I may do a little bit of a minor spoiler of the book, but I will preface that when we get there just, just so as not to give too much of a hint of, uh, the film in itself at that p- at that juncture, of course, later on.

...

I was beyond curious about this one because, uh, over at Antenna, we are releasing Josh Malerman's documentary this fall called To All the Books, and it is about his writing process behind, uh, one of his books.

And for those that don't know, Josh is the one that wrote Incidents Around the House, which is the book that is, uh, Other Mommy essentially.

Source material.

Um, you know, there's this ...

Uh, Josh Malerman has this book, Incidents Around the House, that just became Other Mommy.

Um, like, and that book ...

And it's like, I mean, I love that book.
