Josh Mahura

Had some pictures of it.

Josh Mahura was just a pit bull.

Like, he was foaming at the mouth getting into that big fight there.

So I like that there's, there's some fight.

And Ryan Lindgren had a very wide-reaching red line to the left, and that was just a, a total bummer.

So hopefully he sticks down on line three.

I, I hope that Josh Mahura gets some time, especially after that Calgary game and him stepping up.

And, um- I loved the line combo of Ryan Winterton, Berkly Catton, and Shane Wright.

Then you've got Riker Evans, who is young and fast.

And Joshua Mahura, Cale Fleury, Will Odovanen, who is making the team, who is getting sent down.

Lindgren versus Larson is the key matchup here.

Lindgren is relentless.

It depends on the opponent.

So, it's situational? That means both make the team? What about Riker Evans? He's been lighting up the minors.

Does he jump ahead of Mahura or Fleury?

Evans has the upside.

And now Vince Dunn from behind on Sam Morton.

So as we said earlier on the – The episode 20, Gutis and 23.

Gutis' last year in Florida, it was actually his best year, if you ask me.

Him and Josh Mahura.

And then as far as the third pair, it seems like Cale Flurry has the nod over Josh Mahura.

I don't know whether that's him beating out Mahura kind of one-to-one or whether it's just him being a right-handed defenseman and it's a spot on the right side that's open.

Seems like he would get the leg up anyway.

I wonder if some of that stuff's going to bleed into the regular season more so than we've seen in years past, right? It's going to be an interesting thing, but it definitely based on what we're seeing and what the players have talked about in terms of, you know, like Ty Nelson talked to him.

He's very much been vocal about, you know, the system wanting their defensemen to be aggressive and things like that.

And I think it works for a guy like Ty Nelson, but I don't know that it works for, say, all of the guys that are going to be on this blue line in the same way that we talked about last week when we were talking about what we want to see from some of these players on the blue line with a Ryan Lindgren or an Adam Larson or a Josh Mahura, guys that don't necessarily have that foot speed to be asked to cover such a wide area of ice.

which the system is asking them to do anywhere from the net, you know, behind the net through the corners up to the half boards, then up to, like I said, kind of a mid slot area.

Dunn needs a partner who can clear the crease and take shots.

Josh Mahura or Riker, Evans could fit.

Evans has that offensive upside, but Mahura's reliability might be preferred against a skilled Vancouver team.

Makes sense.

I think there's a job to be had there.

Right now, if you're going to lay out the depth, I guess it's Cale Fleury's job to But I'm not sure Josh Mahura doesn't move him out or they make a deal because I'll tell you what, that's an important piece.

And I don't want to disrespect anybody, but I think it's fair to say that both Fleury and Mahura have been borderline players at the NHL level throughout their careers.

That's hard to lock in a number six defenseman right there and say, okay, it's your job, right? So to me, there's some holes and we'll see where it plays out.
