So I was hoping you could kind of walk us through the journey to capturing those different markets.
2:11
Sure thing.
2:11
I think the start of it is what our mission is.
2:14
And our mission is very simple, protect life.
2:17
And so for us, we're focused on life-saving use cases for drone technology and counter drone.
2:24
And so I'll give you a couple examples of that.
2:27
When a 911 call comes in, let's say a suspect is on the loose with a firearm or something like that, the ability to quickly get a view of what's going on before a police officer can drive through traffic and try to locate the person and that assumes they're on a sidewalk or public road and not in a setting like the woods or something where you can't drive to them.

But that's a lot of animal incoming.
2:13
can you tell us more about your background getting into thoroughbred racing and your day job as well
2:18
sure thing so uh ultimately uh i run a company called axon i've it's the only company i've ever worked for i've been uh at uh at axon since 2009 i graduated college that year and drove straight across the country from boston to arizona and got started there At that time, we were manufacturing taser devices, the yellow guns you see that police officers wear.
2:40
Our goal is to obsolete the bullet in policing, meaning we can make a taser so good that a police officer never has to take somebody's life with a gun.
2:49
That business has evolved now into, we started putting cameras on the tasers and that started to show how they were being used in the field.
2:56
And then we said, hey, this is kind of working.
2:58
Let's put the camera on the officer.
3:00
And we've become the market leader in body-worn cameras.
6:27
And were you trying to solve a specific problem when you were looking to implement AI into how you operate your horse racing ownership experience? Or is that something that just naturally came along as a technology has developed rapidly through the last year or so?
2:19
So before we get into the guts of your recent earnings and what you're up to, just give us a little bit of an overview, if you don't mind, on Axon's history and the different services that you offer, and to whom, 'cause there are some surprises in there.
2:31
Sure thing.
2:32
So, uh, first of all, thank you for having me today.
2:35
And, uh, ultimately, Axon, we view ourselves as the operating system of public safety, essentially a network of software, sensors, AI, and people that drive outcomes, uh, in, in the public safety space and beyond that, that people value and care about.
2:52
Whether you're a police officer or a community member or, or anyone else, uh, we wanna make sure everyone goes home safe at night.
3:00
And the way we do that, uh, is through a variety of tools that we offer our customers.
3:04
We started off as a Taser business.
4:28
Explain what counter-drone tech is, if you don't mind, and its, its uses here in the United States.
JordyHOST
67:58
Yeah.
67:58
And so, when you go into public safety or, uh, defense tech or, you know, this, this segment, you really have to be confident you can build something for the long term where you can win the majority of the users on your platform.
68:11
That's really the only way you can have a viable business model in this space.
68:15
And so, uh, you know, we look at this, like, "Hey, you know, there, we start with the most talented teams we can find, and then the most product synergy." And so, with a company like Prepared or one like Fusus that we acquired last year, we really believe we can help accelerate their growth by plugging them into our ecosystem and, you know, the products nicely play off each other.
68:36
And, uh, you know, with police, they wanna outsource as much of the technology as they can.
68:42
They don't wanna build things internally, uh, to s- uh, you know, to, to capture their use cases.
68:47
And so, when we can show up with a really nice end-to-end workflow from what we call capture to courtroom, uh, that, that really has a lot of value to our customers.

What are you guys doing on that front? It's a tough market because fires are so unpredictable, um, but certainly feels important.
