Josh Cooley

Not, not nearly as good as Bumblebee, but still not as terrible as Transformers: The Last Knight, and that faltered at the box office.

And then they say let's try one more time, but we're going back to the animation wheelhouse, and directed by Josh Cooley, who had just come off Toy Story 4 with Transformers One that had a stacked cast with Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Brian Tyree Henry, just a stacked cast, and that lost the studio money.

So they think going back to Michael Bay is a huge win.

I think it's a huge loss.

Um, but I think what is, you know, I guess more interesting is who is, like, involved in it.

So, uh, Josh Cooley, uh, who directed Toy Story 4, um, they won Best Animated Feature, uh, and then also co-wrote Inside Out.

Um, and then I'm gonna say his name wrong, but Sam Raimi, uh, that-- the guy that basically is involved, uh, involved with, um, the Evil Dead and the Spider-Man films is, um, gonna be producing it, which I think they're not nobodies.

They've done some really huge films that are a staple of a lot of society, and a lot of people have watched them and, and staple for different age groups.

Because today we are discussing Transformers 1 from 2024.

This was directed by Josh Cooley.

The story was by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Pearson, while the score was by Brian Tyler.

On an estimate to put in today's money adjusted for inflation, this movie cost $80 million to make and made $138 million globally at the box office.

But then obviously Ryan packs gets a, a huge upgrade once he receives the matrix.

And it was so wise and smart on Josh Cooley's part.

And the, you know, the whole team behind transformers one to say like, well, If we give Orion the Matrix and make him Optimus Prime, we need to do something to signify that D16 is specifically and explicitly Megatron now, in the same way that Orion Pax is now Optimus Prime.

We've got to do something to change that.

He's the GOAT.

Um, Josh Cooley is writing it.

In the game, players build a camp in a haunted forest to rescue four missing children while fending off monstrous beasts.

So it definitely sounds like a kids movie, like an intro to horror-

Always a good time.

And speaking of this to come on this show, next time we will be reviewing the 2024 Josh Cooley film Transformers 1.

Our very first Transformers movie in any form or shape on this podcast.

So, Keith, anything you'd like to add on our upcoming movie or anything else before we sign off?

But Sam Raimi was in the news actually a couple times this week.

We're going to start with one story, though, that Sam Raimi is producing and Josh Cooley is writing an adaptation of 99 Nights in the Forest for 20th Century Studios.

It's a live action adaptation.

Have you heard of this?
