Connor NewcombHOST
22:21
All right, after reviewing my bold predictions from the season, let's give you a new set of predictions.
Connor NewcombHOST
22:25
My three bold predictions for the Orioles offseason, even with the lockout coming into play on December 1st, what are the Orioles going to do this winter, either before the lockout or after it ends, hopefully at some point in early 2027? First Orioles bold offseason prediction, the Orioles will trade Jordan Westberg.
Connor NewcombHOST
22:44
To who or for whom, I do not know.
Connor NewcombHOST
22:48
But the way Mike Elias talked about Westberg last Monday in the postseason press conference when he was asked about him, Westberg, of course, getting Tommy John surgery as a position player, missed the entire 2026 season, has missed large chunks of the previous two seasons as well with injury.
Connor NewcombHOST
23:02
And Elias' answer was fairly elusive and kind of just like, hey, you know, we're not sure where he fits in because we're not sure about his health or his timeline.
Connor NewcombHOST
23:11
coming back that's not a direct quote more of how Elias said it many people have pointed this out including John Meoli over at the banner the last time Elias was asked about a player like this and said something like this he said something very similar about Grayson Rodriguez early last offseason and then what did he do very early in the offseason trade Grayson Rodriguez for Taylor Ward I think between second base and third base the positions Westberg plays you have Jackson Holiday you have Blaze Alexander you have Kobe Mayo you have Christian Encarnacion Strand you you have options there you can sign somebody else in free agency if you want to to get another you know solid veteran type guy in that mix I think if a team really likes Jordan Westberg think he's going to be healthy for most if not all of next season and be the offensive production player we've seen him be when he can actually stay on the field that's just his number one issue if you can maximize Jordan Westberg for a different maybe an outfield bat or maybe a starting pitcher I could see that totally happening Second Orioles bold prediction for this offseason.
Connor NewcombHOST
24:09
One of either Kobe Mayo or Jackson Holiday learns how to play the outfield this offseason and plays the outfield in 2027.
Connor NewcombHOST
24:18
Both have the athleticism to do it.
JCHOST
16:36
I mean, obviously giving up a run and everything, but then, you know, locking in and stuff, that's all that matters for me.
Justin LunenfeldHOST
16:41
Westburg will be back.
JCHOST
16:43
Hopefully no mattresses will be harmed-
Justin LunenfeldHOST
16:46
[laughs]
Sean FergusonHOST
21:57
And let's go to the last one here.
Sean FergusonHOST
21:59
34Money-- 34Mud says, "What makes you think Westberg will be healthy? Great player, but made of glass." Yeah, I'm terrified, uh, with g- with Jordan Westberg.
Sean FergusonHOST
22:11
Love him as a player.
Sean FergusonHOST
22:12
Again, I mean, amazing when he is healthy.
Sean FergusonHOST
22:52
So yeah, I'm just hopeful.
Sean FergusonHOST
22:55
Let's put it that way.
Sean FergusonHOST
22:56
I am hopeful that Jordan Westberg is gonna be healthy next season.
Sean FergusonHOST
23:00
But guys, that is gonna do it for today's episode.
Connor NewcombHOST
9:15
Mounty, who had a terrible 2025, then played in only eight games early this year for the Orioles with multiple injuries taking him out.
Connor NewcombHOST
9:23
I, I mean with Pete Alonso and then the emergence of Kobe Mayo late this year, the addition of, of CES and even Blaze Alexander, Jordan Westburg coming back, I just, you know, Mountcastle can play first base and that's it.
Connor NewcombHOST
9:34
I just see no place on him or for him on this team.
Connor NewcombHOST
9:38
He's about to turn 30.

13 MINS LATER

Connor NewcombHOST
22:14
If you don't agree with this projected lineup for next year, put it in the YouTube comments.
Connor NewcombHOST
22:17
But I would say you have a lineup of something like Blaze Alexander leading off at third base, Gunnar hitting second at shortstop, Pete Alonso third at first base, Basallo catching, hitting cleanup.
Connor NewcombHOST
22:28
Jordan Westburg, if he's back in there, playing second base maybe, hitting fifth.
Connor NewcombHOST
22:32
Uh, Coby Mayo DH-ing, hitting sixth.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:25
And we talked about before, but like free agency, there's not a lot in center field and that's where we need to upgrade.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:30
And I also was wondering as I was watching the press conference, on one hand, they were talking about all these great performers at third base and the addition of Westberg, who presumably will be ready by spring training, coming back from Tommy John.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:47
They say he's starting his hitting progression.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:49
So now we're going to have, you know, Westberg at third, Mayo at third, CES at third, Blaze as a backup at third.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:57
Those are four guys.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:58
You can't have
Josh SorokaHOST
20:59
that.
Matt SorokaHOST
20:59
Right, and then I wonder, oh, well, we also have this hole in the outfield.
Sean FergusonHOST
0:52
And we talked about this about a week ago, but we're gonna talk about it a little bit more as projections have started to come out, but that is Orioles arbitration, which players are going into arbitration, they're arbitration eligible, and what their projected money is, uh, going to look like.
Sean FergusonHOST
1:08
And the players that are arbitration eligible for the Orioles, that would be Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg, Colton Cowser, Leody Taveras, Felix Bautista, Albert Suarez, and Cody Heuer.
Sean FergusonHOST
1:20
And looking at the projections, the bigger one, of course, is gonna be Gunnar Henderson.
Sean FergusonHOST
1:26
He set a franchise record last year for a first-year player of arbitration eligibility, $8.5 million.
Sean FergusonHOST
3:42
Again, uh, not fully playing to the expectations that a lot of people have set out for him.
Sean FergusonHOST
3:49
But with that number with Colton Cowser, I, I would take that as well.
Sean FergusonHOST
3:53
And then Jordan Westburg projected 800, 2,800 up to 1.5 million, and he's missed so much time, especially missing this entire season due to injury.
Sean FergusonHOST
4:03
Again, fully healthy Jordan Westburg, that number is amazing, but fully healthy is, is the big thing.
Patrick FitzgeraldHOST
35:13
So we undid our bad work with the first two picks in those kind of earlier mid-rounds.
John KeHOST
35:19
Yeah, don't forget the Jordan Westberg round eight pick.
John KeHOST
35:23
Didn't play a
Patrick FitzgeraldHOST
35:23
single game.
Patrick FitzgeraldHOST
38:22
So we undid our bad work with the first two picks in those kind of earlier mid-rounds.
John KeHOST
38:28
Yeah, don't forget the Jordan Westberg round eight pick.
John KeHOST
38:32
Didn't play a
Patrick FitzgeraldHOST
38:33
single
Carlos CollazoHOST
38:41
Spencer Torkelson, Austin Martin, Max Meyer, Asa Lacey, Emerson Hancock, and Nick Gonzalez.
Carlos CollazoHOST
38:47
So yeah, the Orioles were clearly doing... a money saver strategy and I feel like talking about Heston Kerr said you also have to fold in just what else they did in this class they got Jordan Westberg at pick 30 Hudson Haskin in the second round Kobe Mayo and Carter Baumler were the two like big pricey high school players they signed in the fourth and fifth round and then they rounded out their class with Anthony Servideo in the third round but yeah that definitely a portfolio sort of package for the Orioles and I think Maybe in hindsight, we should have been less surprised by just any surprise pick here, just given the nature of the class as we're talking about it.
Carlos CollazoHOST
39:28
And Heston Kersad also had a pretty rock-solid track record as a hitter.
Carlos CollazoHOST
39:35
I think for me, it was like, I maybe thought lesser of him compared to the elite players at the top because of the no-doubt corner profile.
JJ CooperHOST
41:43
where, well, let's go with it.
JJ CooperHOST
41:45
And by the way, it worked out.
JJ CooperHOST
41:46
Jordan Westberg ended up being a very productive player.
JJ CooperHOST
41:51
Not that they paid him massively more.
Sean FergusonHOST
6:22
Let me know down in the comments what you guys think.
Sean FergusonHOST
6:26
And I do want to give a little bit of an update on Jordan Westberg.
Sean FergusonHOST
6:30
Of course, he is one of the best players Third baseman's, in my opinion, in the league when healthy.
Sean FergusonHOST
6:38
I mean, just when he's healthy, super consistent, great back, great defense.
Sean FergusonHOST
6:46
I love Westberg on this team, but he cannot stay healthy, and he missed all.
Sean FergusonHOST
6:52
all of 2026 due to injury, and this is another big part of why I was so confident in believing all the talk that this was going to be the bounce-back year for the Orioles after missing out on the postseason last year, having a losing record last year.
Sean FergusonHOST
7:06
Jordan Westberg was a big part of it, a healthy Westberg over at third base with, you know, Pete Alonzo at first.
Sean FergusonHOST
7:12
It's going to be a bounce-back year for Gunnar Henderson.
