... to all those things that you talked about in, in taking care of himself and his, you know, his focus on being that sort of player.
19:25
It's ...
19:26
I've never seen anybody work as hard as he works.
19:30
Um, you know, even in meetings, he was, he was always doing something to strengthen a body part of his, whether it be his fingers or his toes or his ankles, knees.
19:40
He, he always was doing something.
19:43
Um, you know, and he taught me a lot about, you know, the routine, how to look after your body.
19:51
Um, and, and even, like, different re- recovery modes.

22:29
What happens over there, uh, to replace Lane? How do you sort of keep the guys', uh, I guess, the morale up and motivated, uh, to keep going through the season?
122:31

123:09
He would just be researching things all the time and sharing it, and I think that was probably Lane's best, best quality about him, was he never gatekept success, and he was always sharing it with the younger guys.

He would just be researching things all the time and sharing it, and I think that was probably Lane's best, best quality about him, was he never gatekept success, and he was always sharing it with the younger guys.
28:05
I mean, even, even up until this year, he was always bringing someone along, um, just to educate them on, on how beneficial, you know, whatever he was doing or whatever he was reading up on, how beneficial it was for them.
30:26
What happens over there, uh, to replace Lane? How do you sort of keep the guys, uh, I guess the morale up and motivated, uh, to keep going through the season?

7:00
What happens over there, uh, to replace Lane? How do you sort of keep the guys', uh, I guess, the morale up and motivated, uh, to keep going through the season?
109:15
So what are the specific things other than we see how many yards you get rushing, we see how many yards you get passing, but what are the things that you look for when you're judging how you guys played?
109:28
Um, how, how the efficient the run game was, uh, obviously it wasn't as efficient this week.
109:37
Um, and when we watched the film, you could just see where sort of similar, you know, last season it was, we were one block away and it was just the landmarks.
109:47
We weren't as detailed on our landmarks.
109:49
You know, we, we, if we're running stretch, we want to get our helmet play side and, and make sure that we can create that, you know, create the, uh, the hole on the outside so the ball can hit.
110:01
And so if we're not getting to our landmarks, you know, the back has to cut it up because he sees color front side, you know, in the B or C gap.
110:10
And so it was just, you know, trying to get into a rhythm and making sure that we're all on the same page.
110:30
What was that like for you and him working out over there?
5:49
But what are the guy... what are the things that you look for, uh, when you're judging how you guys played?
5:55
Um, how, how the efficient the run game was.
5:59
Uh, obviously it wasn't as efficient this week.
6:04
Um, and when you watch the film, you could just see where Sort of similar to, you know, last season.
6:10
It was, we were one block away, and it was just the landmarks.
6:14
We weren't as detailed on our landmarks.
6:16
You know, we, we...
8:43
Mm-hmm.
3:36
So what are the specific things other than we see how many yards you get rushing, we see how many yards you get passing, but what are the things that you look for when you're judging how you guys played?
3:49
How the... efficient the run game was uh obviously it wasn't as efficient this week um and when we watched the film you could just see we're sort of similar you know last season we were one block away and it was just the landmarks we weren't as detailed on our landmarks you know we if we're running stretch we want to get our helmet play side and and make sure that we can create that you know create the uh the hole on the outside so the ball can hit.

4:30
And so it was just, you know, trying to get into a rhythm and making sure that we're all on the same page.
4:49
What was that like for you and him working out over there?
4:54
It was a great experience because it was really the first time we've ever gotten to play next to each other and I thought he did a great job.
5:03
First time coming out there.
5:05
I think he's hard on himself and I think that's why this move will be awesome because he's just trying to get better and he wants to get better for us.
111:13
How do you make the judgment of, hey, this is, you know, I can play, but this is bothering me so much it might not even benefit the team? How do you deal with that?
111:28
Man, honestly...
111:33
No one is 100% entering the season or leaving the season.
111:37
It doesn't matter how you enter and how you leave it.
111:40
You're not entering 100%.
111:42
And I guess for every football player around the league.
111:49
I would not be the best expert on how to tell when to pull yourself because especially for me, my pride and my ego... always wants to represent the Philadelphia Eagles if I'm 50%.
115:53
Yes.
4:38
How do you deal with that?
4:42
Man, honestly...
4:47
No one is 100% entering the season or leaving the season.
4:51
It doesn't matter how you enter and how you leave it.

12:36
Yeah.
26:21
Okay.
26:22
I got it easy, I guess.
26:23
I mean, the first impression I had, I, I got a text when I got drafted, and it was Jason Kelce.
26:28
He texted me saying he was excited to get me, get me, have me on board the team.
29:29
That's, that's a good chunk of change right there.
29:31
They got, they got time.
29:33
Um, fans in general? No, I, I will say this.
29:39
Um, I didn't know what grease pole climbing was-
97:05
Yes.
97:06
You know, the passing game is not my specialty, but the style, the style of... of our passing game, the aggressiveness up front for the O-line in the run game and passing game, them being married, I would say if I was to give a percentage of newness or carryover, I would probably say, man, that's really hard to put.
97:34
Yeah, it is a tough one.
97:35
That's really hard to put.
97:37
I don't want to say 100% because I don't really know then it's not really carry over because every team runs the same thing, but we're doing it differently.
97:50
But Jordan,
98:15
So, Chris Cooper, how well has he assumed the mantle taking over for Jeff Stoutland?
98:22
He's done a great job.
6:47
Yes.
6:48
You know, the passing game is not my specialty, but the style, the style of... of our passing game, the aggressiveness up front for the O-line in the run game and passing game, them being married, I would say if I was to give a percentage of newness or carryover, I would probably say, man, that's really hard to put.
7:16
Yeah, it is a tough one.
7:17
That's really hard to put.
7:19
I don't want to say 100% because I don't really know then it's not really carryover because every team runs the same thing, but we're doing it differently.
7:32
But Jordan,
7:57
So, Chris Cooper, how well has he assumed the mantle taking over for Jeff Stoutland?
8:04
He's done a great job.
51:10
Yes.
51:11
You know, the passing game is not my specialty, but the style, the style of... of our passing game, the aggressiveness up front for the O-line in the run game and passing game, them being married, I would say if I was to give a percentage of newness or carryover, I would probably say, man, that's really hard to put.
51:39
Yeah, it is a tough one.
51:40
That's really hard to put.
51:42
I don't want to say 100% because I don't really know then it's not really carryover because every team runs the same thing, but we're doing it differently.
51:55
But Jordan,
52:20
So, Chris Cooper, how well has he assumed the mantle taking over for Jeff Stoutland?
52:27
He's done a great job.
47:36
[lips smack] How did you keep going 24 months, very little action, very little progress? What kept faith in your journey, man?
47:46
Uh, in all honesty, um, Jeff Stoutland.
47:50
He would challenge me to prepare like a starter from when I first came in there and, and knew nothing about football to, to now.
47:58
He always told me, "Prepare like a starter so when your opportunity comes, you won't skip a beat." And so I was just there in '18, '19, and even 2020, I was just biding my time, preparing like a starter, and it was probably the greatest advice that he'd ever given me.
48:13
You know, that...
48:14
And it was just the old saying of, you know, stay ready so you don't have to get ready.
48:18
Instead of saying that, he was just like, "Just prepare like a starter." And it was, it was the greatest advice, and I think it set me up because of the way I watch film, the way I study, the way I, uh, I'm attentive in meetings, the way I practice.
52:24
But the hard sting of lessons learned is the most important thing.
61:35
Yeah.
61:36
And, uh, you know, this crazy guy, he believes in this kid who never played football before and is trying to make a, make a name for himself and I can't get over how he was always consistent.
61:51
He's always there, and he always believed in me, and he was always the last one to believe in me.
62:22
He's always called me Papa
62:22
...
62:22
I'll call you Papa, man, 'cause just the, man, I just needed...
62:27
For me, I needed, I feel like I was a young man coming here, didn't really know who I was.
62:31
You know, really still a young adult, you know? I didn't know what I stood for, what I was gonna stand for, what I believed in, and he just, for me, he kind of set me in my ways of hard work beats everything.
6:16
Mm.
6:17
Uh, no, I, I think I was pretty fortunate to, uh, to get a call from him, to, you know, tell me before the news broke.
6:26
And, uh, as soon as he told me, I was just, I was walking in downtown San Francisco, and I was just crying.
6:32
Mm.
6:32
Thank God I had my glasses on.
6:34
I was just crying on the phone, and, and then, again, thank God I had something else to go to, another media event.
6:42
And that's why I'm pretty grateful to be here right now.
6:45
It's just a, it's a welcome distraction, because, uh, yeah, I'm, I'm really sad, man.
67:49
You started off hot year one, sorry.
67:50
(laughs) I feel like, you know, I, I'm more comfortable now in my set and my technique now, um, but I think it was just a culmination of all the years adding up and getting to a point where you understand, you know, the QB drop depth, um, and knowing how many, you know, kicks to go, and you just kind of get comfortable over time, and I think it was kind of last year just as, just it all come together.

8 MINS LATER

75:53
... uh, up to par, so.
75:54
Joey, when you got to the, uh, NFL, what was your, what was your rookie hazing like? What'd you have to do? What did Lane put you through? What did the boys do? Uh, Lane, Lane's actually a great vet.
76:03
Didn't, they didn't put me through much.
76:06
Just get, uh, the Chick-fil-A and Popeye's for every game.
76:10
Every away game.
76:11
Had to get JP's apple pie.
