Jony Ive

It, it doesn't say, "I'm John Ternus, the new Apple CEO." He doesn't say, "I'm the CEO now." They kind of just throw to him, and he's not labeled, and he just gives these remarks, and he says, "I want to take a moment to express what an extraordinary privilege it is to represent the teams here at Apple." I'm just gonna read, you know, a, a very brief and, I think, like, slightly rough transcript, but he, he mentions, you know, that he's been there for 25 years and that he could never have imagined being up there as CEO.

And there's this thing he says where, you know, "I love the idea that the things we make, make people more productive and let them do things they never thought possible before." And, you know, he t- he, he gets almost in that sort of, like, Jony Ive headspace of, you know-

... we imagine new things and make them real and put these new things into people's lives.

They've definitely been, like, parading him out as, like, a public figure for a while.

I also talked to people that talked about how, you know, when Jony Ive left, like, it was, like, the product team and the design team were, like, the cool kids in Apple.

And then when Jony Ive left, the design team faltered, and then John Ternus' team became the most important.

So I, I think people inside Apple weren't too shocked.

Yeah, I agree.

So I had the privilege of watching Steve create the iPod, create the phone, and he had a small group of people that he met with and talked to every day.

You know, with the phone you had people like Jony, Jony Ive doing-

Some are gonna leave 'cause they, they're not going to get along.

You know, the, the whole Jony Ive, Tim Cook thing, and how did that shake out? And you've heard both sides of that story, uh, that they didn't get along or, or just Jony wanted to go do something else besides, uh, iPods and iPhones, so you know.

Um, plus a half a billion dollars from, from, uh, uh, Open, OpenAI didn't hurt.

That was ultimately and not immediately.
