So, yeah, where are we with Casey, Isaac? Because we know that he plays a position that is a very deep position in this organization, not only at the big league level, but right underneath at AAA and even AA in terms of having lefty hitting corner outfielders.

uh and casey is a guy that you know he's gotten his opportunity this year and just um very the overall numbers are kind of replacement level and even a little worse than that if you include the defense knocking on the door you have brandon compton you have cam canarella uh there's probably others there's i mean there's right-handed hitters that are worth mentioning like camp alderman and jonathan long like they have um they have other candidates that are biting at his heels and Casey, that middle stretch that was encouraging, but there was long stretches before and afterwards that not so much.

So yeah, what is the current expectation in terms of what his role on this team looks like in 2027? Is he even a surefire to make the opening day roster next year, just given the fact that he had these inconsistent, mostly underwhelming results?

Yeah, I think you've got to say objectively that it was a disappointing first full season in the major leagues for Owen Casey.

That doesn't seem very logical from a roster construction standpoint.

Yeah, so still a while to go.

I think the names that I brought up are guys with no big league experience whatsoever, and I think it's unlikely that any of them, whether it's Compton or Canarella or Jonathan Long, Kemp Alderman, those guys, it's more likely that they start next year at AAA and then wait for something to go wrong with somebody or if they really... force the issue like i think it's casey spots a lose like as long as he comes into training and and does solidly uh i think he'll get some sort of opportunity there to uh to prove himself and bounce back so let's quickly touch on xavier edwards as well coming back from the il before the end of the season he did have as i mentioned that little moment in this game that was very significant beating out an infield hit beating tanner scott to the bag to keep that going so it gives them stability at second base again moves javier snowhut back to third base again and uh x is i think he's another guy in in this group of players that was trending in a bad direction before his entry he'd been slumping for a lot of the second half and um like his future with this team isn't exactly guaranteed is uh he's a more established player than casey by a long shot and for that reason he's a guy that would have a lot more trade value he's about to be arbitration eligible for the first time and even though he's really useful player for obvious reasons with his bats ball quality with his base running with his defense it's he doesn't have that defensive versatility that the team loves.

He's locked in at that one particular position.

Also going to be curious to see where guys like Robbie Snelling fit into this thing.

And a lot of minor league talent, not just pitching, but Kemp Alderman, Jonathan Long.

Are these guys going to make their major league debuts next season as well? So a lot of question marks for this Marlins team.

I don't view this season as a failure whatsoever.

So you've got some of these things.

They traded Jonathan Long.

They traded Mason McGuire.

So they traded a bunch of these guys.

We'll start off, we're going to go through the July minor league players of the month, and these are as selected by minor league baseball.

This is not Robbie and I's picks or anything like that this is the guys that were selected by the official league site and all that good stuff uh international league your hitter was Jonathan Long technically with the Cubs throughout July but now with the Miami Marlins uh and the pitcher was Quinn Matthews who has now made his major league debut so um neither one of those guys are on the team where they were honored for but Long being hot as he headed over to Miami a little interesting to me just because they're giving Ramirez some play at first And I worry just a little bit if Long is playing well, that they're going to get him up.

And then you've got the issue of Stowers and Long and

Augustine.

I've been corrected every time I say it, apparently incorrectly.

Since we're talking about the Cubs, since we're talking about the Cubs at the trade deadline, the Cubs sent Jace Beck and Jonathan Long to the Marlins organization for Braxton Garrett.

And it bolstered the depth of the Marlins at the AAA level, which is what we're talking about right now.

So I'm looking at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

It doesn't look like he's going to make Major League.

Jonathan Long struggles this year with the Cubs.

Just didn't really have it.

Cubs trade him in July anyways to Miami at the deadline.
