A few weeks ago on episode 60, we had our pal Tim Foster on to discuss our favorite Star Wars themes.

And we each had our own personal, emotional, and nostalgic reasons for our choices.

It was also nearly impossible to prove, half a century after the fact, and for a long time, the researchers who kept the case alive were careful not to say Perry's name out loud.

When the crime writer Jonathan Goodman tracked him down in the 1960s, he only ever wrote about him as Mr. X. Perry's name didn't reach the public until 1981.

By then, he was already dead.

In the decade since, this case has never stopped pulling people in.

Some of the best crime writers who ever lived, from Dorothy L. Sayers to Raymond Chandler to P.D. James, have picked at it, each one sure they could name the killer.

They never could agree.

And the theories have only piled up since, some people are sure William did it, others pin the whole thing on Perry.
